Susan Foreman was new to their classes, a few years older than everyone else, it seemed. Rumour had it that she'd had to repeat at least one year of school. Which made her, to Clyde's eyes, someone who definately wasn't as booky as Maria, and the pole opposite of geeky Luke.
"So," Clyde asks as smoothly and suavely as can be said by someone whose voice has yet to change, "did it hurt?"
Susan looks at him, her expression suggesting she's trying to puzzle his question out, one word at a time. "What?"
"When you fell from heaven."
She looks at him blankly, which makes Clyde wonder if the older kids really did say it like that.
"Where're you from?" he asked.
"The future," Susan said. And as soon as I repair my little time machine, I'll be out of here.
Susan wasn't sure why Clyde was thumping his forehead against his desk and muttering "Not again, not again, not more weirdos."
