She arrives out of nowhere one day, with only a bag flung over her shoulder and a bracelet that reminds them all of Jack strapped around her wrist.
The wounds are still raw at that point, nowhere close to healing, still ragged and burning on their flesh… It’s part of the reason they welcomed her, the girl who reminded them so much of the man that they had lost.
But Susan was nowhere near a girl, she had lived over a hundred years and in that time had loved and lost, had fought and killed… Had received scars far deeper then any simple wound could cause.
Of course by the time the team realised this… She was already entwined deep within their hearts, especially Owen’s heart.
Owen, the one who wore his heart on a sleeve, the one who rarely let his head rule over his emotions… The one who loved quicker then any of the other members of the team.
Perhaps deep within her heart she loved him back, perhaps deep within the ice that lurked behind her painted smile she adored him as much as he adored her.
Perhaps… But it didn’t matter, a few months later Owen died on duty.
Susan never quite gathered the inclination to bring him back.
