This post is where everything happens. All stories/ficlets/drabbles go in the comments here. If your story's too long to fit in a single comment, please post it in your own journal and leave the link in a comment here along with your next pairing request(s). Make certain that you include the pairing you've written as the title of the comment, so that specific pairings can be found easily.

Please don't post any comments that aren't stories. That way, this post will show an accurate count of all the written stories. If you make a mistake or forget something, just edit your comment. If you write a story featuring a specific pairing but somebody posts their story before you post yours, please post it in the overflow post instead of the main one.

If you need help thinking of a pairing to request next or getting inspiration, don't forget The Doctor Who Random Pairing Generator. It includes all of the "main" characters from the various shows, audios, books, and spin-offs. People who aren't participating in the writing can list pairings here that authors can write and/or use as requests in this post.

The rules can be found on the community profile. The masterlist of all written pairings can be found here, while all requested pairings that are still open can be found here. If you want to leave feedback for one of the authors, please go to this post. Any other questions can be asked here.

Note: If you're writing a story for someone's request, please post it as a reply to their comment. Only create a new thread if you've written a pairing that nobody has requested yet.

Leela/Andred

It was remarkable how much hate Leela of the Sevateem could convey with a single, sweeping movement. Her limbs, usually so loose and graceful, tensed with rage, and even Andred – who loved her more than he’d ever thought possible – wondered whether or not he should back away.

He had learned to read her moods over the years. In a manner of speaking. She was not the sort of person you could compare to any sort of book, let alone an open one, but he was able to recognise when she was angry with him, and – much more frequently – when she was angry with another Time Lord.

Life on Gallifrey didn’t suit Leela. She was often angry. The looks – the whispers! – she attracted within the Citadel constantly pushed her towards the edge, although the edge of what Andred didn’t know. He did know that she had only remained here because of him. He was constantly grateful for that. She loved him, and he loved her, and that amounted to happiness, of a sort. It was enough.

Borusa antagonised Leela more than most. Andred expected this was because, although the Doctor had left Gallifrey in the Chancellor’s hands (again) when he departed, Borusa couldn’t forget how close he’d come to losing everything. After all, his slights were directed at the Doctor, and even at Andred himself, just as often as they were directed at Leela.

His wife didn’t care about politics, or wounded Time Lord pride. She cared only about driving her knife into his ungrateful throat.

“That man,” she growled, slamming the chamber door behind her as she entered, “He does not wish me to wear my skins in the Citadel. He says it is inappropriate to show my legs.”

Leela sat heavily down on the bed beside Andred, her eyes shining with fury. Her temper was as wild as she was. It was, in his opinion, only when she was angry that she truly deserved the name ‘savage’. Not that it was a bad thing, of course. He didn’t consider himself her tamer (though he’d heard many people express those sorts of opinions in the cold chambers of the Capitol). She had been the one to change him. He’d never considered anything connected to Gallifrey to be ‘cold’ before meeting Leela. Leela, who burned like a flame, and had changed the universe when she’d arrived on his planet.

“Perhaps they have forgotten that such things exist underneath their heavy Time Lord robes?” she continued sharply, and Andred smiled despite himself.
“Perhaps they’re just frightened of you?” he suggested, “Because you’re different.”
“I am glad to be different! I would not wish to be like them!”

Her husband smiled softly, and reached over to entwine his fingers with hers. Them. Not him. He and Leela, they were of a sort. Separate. Together.

“I wouldn’t want that either.”

Victoria Waterfield/Tenth Doctor

She’s older now, tougher.

A touch of grey to her hair, a glint of steel to her eyes…. She’s changed completely from the girl that he left behind so long ago.

In appearances at least they have changed sides, he manic and full of life, she deliberate and taking the time to think over most of her movements, it’s almost startling until he remembers that last time he had Jamie with him and then it’s just painful.

Victoria always had liked Jamie.

“Tell me what’s going to happen.”

“There’s this man called Saxon….”

“I never voted for him, and all those that I’ve been in contact with… Well they never voted for him either.”

He can’t help the grin then “always so sensible.”

“Always so curious.”

They share a grin, and then she turns away from the cliff edge and starts to walk “tea? For old times sake?”

“Wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

The worst thing about being a Time Lord is that sometimes you have the misfortune of meeting yourself and realising that you weren't as funny, or brave as you thought that you were back then. Realising that all of the flaws in each of your incarnations -all of the ego, the bottled up anger, the tendency to manipulate the universe as you see fit- is all still there and when that happens, you worry that it might be a worse combination next time.

The second worst thing about being a Time Lord -or indeed any time traveller- is that sometimes people appear when you least expect them to. So when the Doctor, wanting to get away from what he had been forced to do to spare Donna's life, made an attempt to move on, it was almost cruel that the TARDIS had arrived here.

Scotland. 1748.

Four years after he had met and been forced to leave another amnesiac companion. But...the Time Lords were all gone, apart from him, so if he wanted...he could find Jamie again. He's sure that's why the TARDIS dragged him here.

***

Jamie doesn't look a day older than when he last saw him, back in his sixth incarnation. He's lost track of his age since then -fighting a war through time will do that to someone- but he reckons that it must have been at least a hundred years ago, if not longer.

He uses a Scottish accent to persuade his one-time companion that he isn't actually English, and it pacifies him for the time being. Long enough to offer the Doctor a drink and ask his business in the Highlands.

He smiles, a genuinely happy smile for once, and answers.

"Actually, Jamie, I'm here for you."

Lucy Saxon/Jack Harkness

It started after the end of the Year that Never Was (one of many names those In The Know have for it).

Jack would stop by where Lucy's living at the time (she moves frequently - or she's moved frequently; where UNIT's concerned, Jack's not sure how much option Lucy has), and they spend some time together.

Sometimes they never leave the kitchen table. Sometimes they huddle on the couch. Sometimes they spoon on the floor or in bed. Once...well, Jack hadn't realized that Ianto hadn't been kidding about how people in this century actually had sex in the shower (that being one of the few taboos in Jack's own home time).

He's pretty sure this qualifies as one of those syndromes wherein a hostage starts sympathizing with their captors - only it'd have to be in reverse, since he had always been the one in manacles.

Still, Jack knew, I never could turn away a pretty face, especially not one in need.

Jack Harkness/The Rani

“You know, it’s polite to ask before chaining someone up. I’m generally pretty flexible, but…”

He trailed off. The woman on the other side of the room – the laboratory – wasn’t listening to him anyway. He tugged half-heartedly at his bonds, but the chains merely rattled unpleasantly against his wrists.

She’d come through the Rift a few hours before, and Jack, being Jack, had decided to wine her and dine her instead of imprisoning her in a holding cell. She’d seemed harmless enough, just a frightened woman with a broken spaceship, and taking her at face value had been the first of many mistakes.

Allowing her to refill his glass had probably been the second one. He’d tasted the arsenic in the wine, but by then it had been far too late. She’d stood over him while the world dissolved into darkness, and she’d laughed.

“Such a shame to dissect you,” she reflected, stepping across the room and running a red fingernail down his cheek. Jack tried to pull his head away, but he was still struggling to focus on life. His body came back quickly, but his consciousness – his sense of self – took a little longer to follow. Sometimes he wasn’t sure if it would be able to come back at all.

“Then don’t?”

“You are an anomaly, Captain Harkness. I want to find out how that happened.”

“I was resurrected by a human with the power of a god and the ability to end the Time War,” he said acidly.

She laughed. “The Daleks were wiped out centuries ago.”

“What?”

“There was a war,” she explained, patiently, “My people destroyed them.”

“Your people? The Time Lords?” She nodded, and he laughed dryly. “The Time Lords might have destroyed the Daleks, but they died in the process. Gallifrey is long gone.”

“I don’t believe you,” she said, sharply.

“I don’t care. It’s true.”

“Gallifrey can’t be gone,” she growled, but she looked suddenly pale and uncertain. She wasn’t sure.

“Did you run?” His voice was suddenly gentle. The Doctor had only spoken about Gallifrey once, but the wave of melancholy which had passed across his face had remained etched in Jack’s memory for a long time afterwards, and the ghost of it was flickering across the Rani’s face.

Jack imagined her features softening further as she stepped forward to undo his bonds with gentle hands. She would cry, of course, and he would comfort her. After that, things would be different. Anything could happen.

“Run?” She laughed at him, too harshly, and the spell was broken. The flame of empathy flickered and died, and she was his enemy once more. It was probably easier that way. “I am a scientist, not a warrior. I do not fight.”

“Not even for your own people?”

“They were never really my people. I was an exile.”

“Like the Doctor? Like the Master?”

The Rani, filling a syringe with something dark and viscous, nodded.

“He’s dead, you know. The Master.”

Jack was in this predicament because he’d been foolish enough to offer help to a stranger who didn’t deserve it, and he fervently hoped that words could wound deep enough to temporary assail his own pain. Unfortunately, the Rani seemed amused rather than upset, tapping the syringe with a red painted fingernail before turning her head to give him a dazzling smile.

“That’s never stopped him before.”

“It hasn’t stopped me, either,” Jack snarled, pulling at the chains.

She laughed again. “Oh, Captain Harkness! I think I’m going to like you.”
